Before and Afters

It's been ages since I've posted anything on The Hixey House Chronicles but in light of the one year anniversary of our house being struck by lighting, I have decided to post some before and after pics.

This first photo was taken shortly after we moved into our house (October 2006).

And this photo was taken Memorial Day 2009.

We're IN!

There's a few things left to do, but for the most part we are all moved in (save for a few things at Angela's parents). Once we get everything put away and get more furniture in the house, we'll post pictures of everything!!!

The Risdon House has "officially" passed all inspections...

...and we now have our occupancy permit. However, as you can see, our house isn't exactly move-in ready. Oh well. I guess money talks.

The dishwasher was delivered and installed today. Our washer and dryer were also delivered but won't be installed until after our flooring is laid. The flooring is scheduled to arrive at our house tomorrow sometime between 8am and 3pm (nice little window, huh) in a 53 foot trailer. Yeah, that's a semi. Good luck getting that on our street.

We have scheduled furniture delivery for this week and are hoping the paint and floors are finished by the end of day Saturday.

The marble vanity top came in cracked, and unfortunately we are going to have to wait 2 weeks for the replacement to arrive. But in the meantime we will have a woman out at the house tomorrow measuring for the granite kitchen counter tops. We hope they are able to cut the granite tomorrow as well, but we should probably assume it won't get cut until Thursday.

The house is looking good. We're pretty happy with the built-ins, but they're not quite finished yet. Regardless, seeing as we didn't give Dennis much direction, he is doing a good job on them.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Well, we stopped by the house this morning before going to Carol and Darrel's for noon dinner. Much to our suprise, we found John caulking the Hardie Board and Jeff painting the breezeway. We told them to go home, but they were completely happy to be getting some work done.

We took a handful of photos, but the paint colors look crazy compared to what they actually look like, so keep that in mind when viewing the below posted photos:

"...just let me finish, Angela..."

What the contractor told Angela when she asked what she could do to help them get our house finished!!!

With Thanksgiving occupying Thursday this week, we really wonder how in the heck Dennis thinks he's going to wrap things up at the Risdon House. After calling him tonight around 4:45, Angela was told she was expecting TOO much when questioning Dennis on why more hadn't been finished on the house today. Really? Would our bosses let us to leave work early when we were already a month behind schedule on one of our projects?!

Overtime, anyone?

Anywho, here are some pics from today...

Quickly...

Well, here are some photos from the weekend. The floors are almost done...

Today Dennis has a total of 8 guys on the site; 2 painting, 3 flooring, 2 tiling in the bathrooms, and one GC with a concussion who can't bend over. :)

They are busting their butts to get as much done by this weekend, so we can begin moving things in...or rather, having furniture and appliances delivered.

Flooring...

We bought some marble tiles last weekend for our hearth. Today they set those tiles.

The hardwood floors have also been delivered and are sitting in the house currently.

On our front, we did some major shopping this weekend. We successfully found granite countertops in our budget...WELL within our budget. We also bought a refrigerator, a stove, a sink console for our bathroom (with a marble top!) and a wonderfully comfortable mattress for our bedroom. We are going back to Sears on Sunday night for the friends and family night sales event to purchase a dishwasher and a washer and dryer. After that we should have all the major appliances wrapped up.

In by December? Doubtful.
